At last a site for the few like-minded people. The rational conservatives! I have been an atheist since age 7 and a conservative since I discovered politics in high school. Always a fan of technical progress and science fiction. I understood at a young age that the quickest way to make a better world that I dreamed of is through the free market and an end to superstitions. We are certainly a rare group of people are we not? The world is a crazy place and I'm afraid that many Americans lost their sense of civility and respect toward fellow man since the hippie 60s. We need more than ever a principled philosophy - the whole package: metaphysics, ethics, politics (I would like to say objectivism, but let's call it Aristotelianism).

Webmaster's Response:
"Classic Iconoclast" found my site on a Google search on ""libertarian" guestbook" in which the following was result #35 of about 24,500:

The Compleat Heretic's Guestbook Archive: Volume 9 (22 Oct 2002 ...

Of course, he immediately made his way to my Guestbook Form so he could drop the link to the site for his satire of the War on Drugs as "a war on junk food." "Classic Iconoclast" is an advocate of "medical marijuana" who's been published in High Times and Cannabis Culture. But then again, his satire may actually be a serious defense of nutritionally deficient consumables. Judging from his photo on the site, I suspect he's a stoner who is genuinely concerned that the Food Nazis are going to prevent him from satisfying his post-"medicating" munchies.

Of course, he immediately made his way to my Guestbook Form so he could drop the link to his site advocating the "Indo-Aryan culture" as the source of "all civilizations" and "the direct ancestors of us Germans and many other white nations." I refuse to allow my guestbook specifically and my site in general to be used as a conduit for spamming. That goes double for resurgent Nazi racists spewing long-discredited white supremacist socioanthropological theories.

Comments:
My cousin, Vicki Palatas, would probably try to make a believer out of you since you are a "conservative atheist." She has contributed opinion articles to The Kansas City Star as one of eight panelists for Midwest Voices. Her articles are from a evangelical/religious right perspective. Rush Limbaugh is her "second cousin." I see myself as a Christian moderate liberal, though sometimes I can hold conservative positions. I'm not a dittohead by any means. My opinions are different than Rush and Vicki. It's hard to get a word in with my cousin's opinions, almost as difficult as talking to Rush.

Webmaster's Response:
Once again children, a "dittohead" isn't a person who goose-steps to Rush's conservative political ideology; on the contrary, a "dittohead" is simply a fan of "The Rush Limbaugh Show" which easily can transcend political orientation. Finally, after more than twelve years as a "dittohead," I've observed the primary difficulty in "talking to Rush" is getting through on his toll-free number!

Comments:
I just found this site, and I have two points I would like to make, and one question to ask. First off it feels great to have found another conservative atheist. For a while I was starting to think I was some sort of weird political loner for finding a non-faith based foundation (common sense) for my conservative ideals. I intend to start recommending this web site to all other conservatives I know to show them what we conservative atheists are all about. Second, I liked the photo album you had, and I agree with your strong statement in regards to the "butt naked" photo and child porn, but I must admit that I was half expecting to see a photo of you in your army days, doing something wild and crazy, as soldiers are apt to. That brings me to the question I want to ask. I will be shipping out to Fort Jackson this May for basic training, and I am wondering if there are any special challenges or problems that I will encounter in the army due to my status as a conservative atheist?

Webmaster's Response:
Looking back, I think military service poses more of a "special challenge" to the more devoutly religious types. Such persons find themselves confronted with much higher levels of profanity, alcohol consumption, sexual promiscuity, etc. than to which they are accustomed.

Webmaster's Response:
Hmm, someone obviously had too much time on his/her hands on a Sunday morning. Apparently this person was set off by my celebration of the re-inauguration of President Bush at the top of my homepage:

President George Walker Bush taking the Oath of Office at his Second Inauguration
(Image from the Republican National Committee web site

This site's webmaster, as an honorably discharged Army sergeant,
a proud and patriotic American, and a rational human being,
celebrates the Second Inauguration of President George W. Bush!!!
Long live the Republic!!!   Long live the Revolution!!!

Perhaps he/she should invest more time dealing with his/her obvious persecution complex.
